“These plein air paintings were done on and around Sanibel Island and include some other places I have visited. They are meant to convey a sense of place and time related to the buildings, woods, fields, and waters that we inhabit. I try to paint in one sitting outdoors in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun casts shadows on the landscape, lending depth and shadings to the scene.”
